November 9th Exercise Included Training Scenarios, Actors and Simulated Injuries
by Corporal Brian Lauda, Public Information Officer, MARTA Police Department
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department recently hosted an emergency preparedness exercise on Saturday, November 9. The full-scale exercise was held at MARTA’s Streetcar Facility and simulated two different crisis scenarios, complete with actors and simulated weapons to help create a realistic setting for first responders. The Atlanta Police Department and Georgia State University Police Department participated in the exercise as well.
“These exercises are part of MARTA’s continued commitment to keep our riders safe,” said MARTA Police Chief Wanda Y. Dunham. “Planning ahead for large-scale events, such as the Super Bowl and Final Four, is crucial for mission success.”
MARTA assumed operation of the Atlanta Streetcar on July 1, 2018. This year’s exercise did not impact rail, bus, or streetcar service.
